    The Alliance Party supports reforms that prevent politicians from redrawing congressional maps for partisan advantage outside the normal 10-year redistricting cycle. We believe voters should choose their representatives — representatives should not choose their voters. This reform must apply equally to all parties and all states.

    Key Initiatives

    Congressional maps should generally be redrawn only once every 10 years after the census.
    Mid-decade redistricting should be prohibited except when required by a court or clear constitutional/legal necessity.
    Independent or nonpartisan redistricting commissions should be encouraged wherever possible.
    Districts should be compact, competitive, transparent, and respectful of communities of interest.
